UFL - Smell the Magic!
There is a new professional (American) football league in town, the UFL. (Complete with lame catchphrase - "It's all about 'U'!"). The tickets dropped to $7 a pop, so I took the kids. When Amy asked them if they wanted to go, they both were very excited to "be a part of a crowd!" What weird ambitions my kids have.
There was an interesting collection of people at the game. It is always weird to see how people dress in public. I don't know if it is a Vegas thing, but everyone seems to want to look like a stripper. It's weird.
The football was good. You recognize a lot of names from the NFL. The "Locos" quarterback was JP Losman. He wasn't much better in the UFL than he was in the NFL when he was losing for the Bills. But, overall, the play was good.
The kids wanted treats, so at halftime McKinna got those little ice cream balls (and promptly spilled a bunch on the ground). She paid attention to the game. She kept noticing that our team (the Locos), still didn't have any points.
Liam chose cotton candy as his treat. He asked for "that candy that is fluffy and colored that you eat." He promptly spilled a quarter of the $6 bag of candy (weighing approximately one ounce - I think I could by uranium from the Libyans cheaper) on the ground as well. He enjoyed the game and payed pretty good attention.
Both kids lasted until early in the fourth quarter. For the record, Liam asked to go home first while McKinna wanted to stay for autographs.
